OSCC-SEC - OffSec CyberCore Certified

The OffSec CyberCore Certified (OSCC-SEC) is OffSec's foundational certification, designed to equip individuals with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to launch a successful career in cybersecurity. Launched in mid-2024, this certification marks a significant expansion of OffSec's offerings to include a comprehensive entry-level program. Unlike OffSec's more advanced certifications like OSCP, which focus purely on penetration testing, the OSCC-SEC provides a broad overview of the entire cybersecurity landscape, covering offense, defense, and system building.\n\nThe certification is earned through the SEC-100: CyberCore – Security Essentials course, a self-paced program featuring 138 hours of content organized into 40 modules. The curriculum is structured across five primary domains: basic cybersecurity information, general skills, offensive skills, defensive skills, and build skills. Learners explore topics such as the CIA Triad, industry frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001, Linux and Windows administration, Python and PowerShell scripting, web and endpoint attacks, SOC processes, vulnerability management, cloud security, AI's role in security, and career development guidance.\n\nThe OSCC-SEC exam is a 6-hour, fully proctored, open-book, practical assessment. It is divided into three distinct sections: Attack, Defend, and Build, each taking approximately two hours. Candidates are tasked with attacking a target system, defending against an attack, and hardening systems to prevent vulnerabilities. Results are available immediately upon submission, with no documentation or reports required. The certification is valid for three years and can be renewed by passing a qualifying exam at the same or higher level.
