CompTIA Tech+ (V6) is a comprehensive, entry-level certification program designed specifically for individuals who are new to technology and looking to build a strong, practical foundation for a successful career in IT. With no prior experience or formal education required, this course demystifies complex tech concepts and focuses on real-world, hands-on skills that are immediately applicable in modern workplaces.
The curriculum is structured around six key domains: Tech Concepts & Terminology (covering computing basics, binary/hexadecimal notation, and troubleshooting methodology); Infrastructure (including internal hardware components, peripheral setup, virtualization, cloud computing, and networking fundamentals like LAN/WAN and wireless standards); Applications & Software (exploring operating systems, productivity tools, web browsers, and emerging AI technologies like chatbots and generative AI); Software Development (introducing programming languages, variables, data types, and logic concepts); Data & Databases (covering relational vs. non-relational databases, queries, backups, and the business value of data); and Security (focusing on confidentiality/integrity/availability, password best practices, encryption, and device protection).
The course is backed by CompTIA's CertMaster suite of learning tools, which includes interactive lessons, video content, virtual labs for hands-on practice, and timed practice exams to ensure exam readiness. The certification exam (FC0-U71) consists of up to 70 multiple-choice questions, lasts 60 minutes, and requires a passing score of 650 out of 900. Upon completion, you will be well-prepared for a variety of entry-level roles, including Tech Support Specialist, Software Developer, Cybersecurity Analyst, Database Administrator, Network Administrator, or IT Manager. Tech+ serves not only as a valuable credential on its own but also as a stepping stone toward more advanced CompTIA certifications and long-term career growth in the ever-evolving tech industry.
